Mike Slattery grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska, and graduated from Hastings Technical Community College with an Associates Degree in Business Administration in 1976. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Business Administration (Accounting emphasis) in 1979, and received his Juris Doctorate from the University's College of Law in 1986.
Mike joined the Knudsen Law Firm in the Fall of 2003. He developed his business and financial planning skills while working as a financial auditor at Touche Ross & Company in Omaha, Nebraska, and as a computer auditor at Enron, Inc. (f/k/a InterNorth, Inc.). He also served as the Assistant General Counsel at Woodmen Accident and Life Company in Lincoln, Nebraska focusing his time on advanced underwriting issues, claim litigation, and general corporate matters.
In the tax area, Mike developed his tax expertise from many years of experience at FirsTier Bank (Trust Tax Clerk), KPMG Peat Marwick, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. Mike focuses his practice in Income Tax, including tax planning, tax return preparation, and IRS matters. In the off-season, Mike keeps himself busy working in the areas of Estate and Business Planning, and Entity Selection.
Mike and his wife, Judy, have three children. Judy is employed as a Chief Group Underwriter at Ameritas. In addition to enjoying his children's activities, he enjoys a wide variety of sporting activities and is involved with several start-up business endeavors.
