Miguel Ruiz is an associate in the Litigation Department in the Los Angeles Office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. His practice focuses on patent litigation, particularly related to technologies in the computer industry. Mr. Ruiz has litigated cases in both state and federal courts throughout California, and in front of the International Trade Commission.
Mr. Ruiz is admitted to practice in the State of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Ruiz is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Ruiz graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in 2002, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 2005, obtaining a law degree and a certificate in Law and Technology. Prior to law school, Mr. Ruiz worked in the IT Department of the Arizona Lottery, developing back end software for the agency's intranet.
Mr. Ruiz is active in the community as a member of the American Intellectual Property Association, the American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, and the Mexican American Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Ruiz serves on the Board of Directors of Uncommon Good, a non-profit organization which assists public interest doctors and lawyers repay their student loans, and on the Emerging Leaders Board of Proyecto Pastoral, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the community in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of East Los Angeles. |
