Mick is an experienced professional manager, knowledgeable in woodworking manufacturing management, as well as manufacturing planning and control systems. Also, a member of APICS, published articles, and presented many educational seminars. In 1972 Mick opened his first business called Architectural Millwork, Inc., in Roanoke, VA. In 1978 he took a position at EBCO in Sheboygan, WI as Manager of Production Services (manufacturing planning & control). EBCO was the largest manufacturer of hotel furniture, and this was his first chance to manage a large woodworking plant using computer software (on a main frame). Since there was almost no software available at the time, Mick wrote the entire system, resulting in productivity increases, better scheduling and purchasing, inventory reduction, and much shorter lead-time. In 1980 Mick accepted a position in Memphis, TN as Vice President of Operations for the third largest clock manufacturer in the US, Pearl Grandfather Clocks. There again he developed custom software for all operations, which improved order management and production, reduced inventories, and cut lead-time. In 1986 he established a manufacturing consulting business, doing many projects in foreign countries, as well as for big name US furniture manufacturers. He sold and implemented complete manufacturing systems for companies all over the US and several other countries. He joined RSA in the fall of 1998. |
