With global expansion topping its list of key corporate goals, Kronos welcomed Mick Adamson as vice president of international operations in 2006, and immediately chartered him with expanding Kronos' global reach. Adamson arrived well prepared for the challenge with extensive executive leadership experience in overseeing sales, marketing, and operations on a global scale.
Adamson launched his career in Scandinavia as a regional systems marketing manager for Intel Corporation. He quickly established his reputation as a top performer, and began carving his path throughout the global technology industry. In 1989, Adamson moved from hardware to software, relocating to the U.K. to accept a position with Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. (SCO), a global leader in server-based software for networked business computing. Adamson helped run the company's European sales distribution from 1989 to 1992, kicking off a successful tenure that would lead him to attend 11 consecutive President's Clubs.
In 1993, Adamson accepted a new position at SCO as the vice president of sales for Asia Pacific and, lived for four years in Singapore. While overseas, he continued to rack up accomplishments - establishing regional offices throughout the territory; initiating two joint ventures in China; and achieving nine consecutive quarters of record-breaking revenue.
Adamson embarked on his next journey with SCO in 1997 as the founding vice president and general manager of Tarantella Incorporated, an entrepreneurial start-up within the organization. For the next three years, he was responsible for setting up the worldwide infrastructure for the market development and sales management of next-generation, secure, remote-access UNIX management products. Today the Tarantella family of software products has been acquired by Sun Microsystems, and the solutions that Adamson introduced 10 years ago now enable businesses to access and manage information anywhere, anytime.
After more than a decade of service, Adamson left SCO in 2001 to pursue an opportunity in the red-hot Internet security space as the executive vice president of sales for SurfControl. Responsible for sales and business development in the Americas, Adamson grew the company's revenue from $12 million to $70 million, earning a promotion to president in 2004.
Adamson is a private pilot, squash and tennis player, and a passionate follower of Formula 1 and MotoGP. |
