As vice president and general manager of Kids, Michelle Moorehead is responsible for driving all aspects of that business. She previously was Nike's vice president of Global Strategic Planning where she was responsible for working with the senior leadership team to help chart overall strategy for the company.
Michelle came to Nike from Target Corporation, where she worked for three years. She joined Target in 2001 as vice president of strategy and performance management, and later became vice president of transition operations. While working at Target, Michelle led the process to identify business priorities for the $48 billion, 1,500-store retailer. She was also an integral part of several major business improvement and strategic positioning initiatives.
Before joining Target, Michelle was an associate principal at McKinsey & Company in Dallas for seven years, where she co-led the North American e-commerce practice. She also served as a capital finance analyst at Equifax in Atlanta and began her career in auditing at PPG Industries in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Michelle has worked with the board for Young Audiences of Minnesota, an organization that brings the arts to youth. She lives with her husband, Tom, and enjoys the arts, cooking and trying new restaurants. To compensate, she also enjoys working out at the gym, biking, walking, snow and water skiing.
Michelle’s favorite Nike innovation is the company’s approach to the women’s fitness business, especially its recent emphasis on dance fitness. I feel this is an opportunity to connect more deeply with the consumer, Michelle said. Nike is capturing a trend in fitness, and is bringing this sport to the market in creative, innovative ways. |
