Michelle M. Mueller is vice president of customer services mass markets for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), Sempra Energy’s California regulated utilities. Sempra Energy is a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.
SDG&E is a regulated public utility that provides service to 3 million consumers through 1.3 million electric meters and more than 800,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties.
SoCalGas is the nation’s largest natural gas distribution utility, serving 19.2 million consumers through 5.4 million natural gas meters.
Prior to her current position, Mueller was director of Marketing for SDG&E since 1999 where she managed marketing for commercial and industrial accounts, including creation and implementation of the marketing program and sales training. She also helped design marketing materials for a deregulated utility environment and SDG&E’s major customer outreach programs.
Prior to joining SDG&E in 1999, Mueller held customer service, marketing and administration leadership positions at QUALCOMM Wireless Systems, a global company developing interactive wireless technologies, and Torrey Communications, a telecommunications company. From 1990-1996, Mueller worked for The Titan Corporation, a company specializing in national security products. She has also held leadership positions at Linkabit, Knoth & Meads Agency and E.F. Hutton Life Insurance Company.
Additionally, Mueller has taught marketing at several California universities including University of California at San Diego and California State University, San Marcos. She has received the Public Relations Society of America Outstanding PR Professional Award, The YMCA Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) Award and others.
Mueller has an MBA in marketing from Syracuse University, a master’s degree in mass communications from Morehead State University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Eastern Michigan University. |
