Dr. Michele M. M. Mazzocco is a research scientist at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is also associate professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and Associate Professor of Population and of Family Health Sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Mazzocco completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology, with an emphasis on developmental experimental psychology. She also received a graduate degree in early childhood education, and worked as a classroom teacher before beginning her doctoral studies. Dr. Mazzocco received her Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1988. She then complemented her training in normal cognitive development by completing postdoctoral training in developmental neuropsychology and developmental disabilities, at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. It is through this postdoctoral fellowship that Dr. Mazzocco became involved with learning disability research, and also established her interests in fragile X syndrome research. Dr. Mazzocco joined the faculty in 1993. She continues to pursue research on fragile X syndrome, and she initiated the Math Skills Development Project in 1997. |
