Michele E. Moreland is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Silicon Valley office. She is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department and concentrates her practice on patent litigation.
Michele has litigated in the International Trade Commission (ITC) and several federal district courts, including District of Delaware, Eastern District of Texas, Eastern District of Virginia, and Northern District of California. She has tried cases involving semiconductor, medical device, telecommunications and networking technology and counsels clients in a range of technology industries, including semiconductors, mechanical devices, chemical arts, biotechnology, telecommunications and medical devices.
In addition to her practice, Michele serves on the recruiting, associate development and gender diversity committees. Michele also has authored several articles relating to e-discovery issues. She is actively involved in the professional development of associates and law students, and has mentored associates and students individually and through her presentations and participation in panels and training programs.
While in law school, Michele received a High Technology Law Certificate and was on the Dean's List. She is a recipient of the 1996 Public Interest Endowment Summer Fellowship and the American Jurisprudence award. She is also a former judicial extern to the Honorable Judge Patricia V. Trumbull of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Michele is a member of the state bar of California and the Federal Circuit and American Bar associations. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Certegy, Inc., USA Payments, Inc., et al. v. U.S. Bancorp, et al. (D. Nev.) - obtained favorable settlement in patent infringement case involving electronic payment technology.
Aradigm Corp., Eli Lilly & Co v. Aradigm Corp. (S.D. Ind.) - prevailed at trial in case concerning pulmonary drug delivery device.
Picolight, Inc., Stratos Lightwave, Inc. v. Picolight, Inc. (D. Del.) - obtained favorable settlement for client in patent case involving optoelectronic transceivers after indication that Court intended to hold asserted patents unenforceable.
NVIDIA Corporation, represented NVIDIA in patent litigations, including trial and appeal, against Silicon Graphics, S3 Incorporation and 3dfx, Inc. (D. Del. and N.D. Cal.)
