Michel Masquelier is Executive Vice President, Head of Acquisition and Sales Worldwide, for IMG Media. He leads a team of 100 people in 30 countries, the world's largest organization brokering media rights, and represents a portfolio containing more than 11,000 hours of programming across every genre. Mr. Masquelier is also a Board Member of the PGA European Tour and oversaw the recent acquisition of CSI Sports. Originally joining IMG in 1984, Mr. Masquelier was responsible for sponsorship sales and event management at the company’s European headquarters in London. In 1988, he briefly left IMG to consult for the organizing committee of the Albertville 1992 Winter Olympic Games and was charged with commercializing the Games in France. After the Albertville Games, Mr. Masquelier returned to IMG as Vice President in Brussels where he developed the Benelux market. Responsibilities included client management, event promotion, touring artists like Placido Domingo, Kiri te Kanawa, and Jose Carreras, and TV rights sales. In 1995, Mr. Masquelier returned to London and eventually became Senior Vice President, Head of European Sales where he built an extensive team of experts in TV rights negotiations. Significant achievements included brokering of the Chinese football league in Asia, acquiring rights for the America's Cup, 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Tennis Masters series, and various football leagues. He was also the point person for the TV rights distribution of major clients like the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (Wimbledon), and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (The Open). Mr. Masquelier studied at the Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium and practiced commercial law prior to 1984. |
