A highly respected wireless software expert, Michael Tso holds 26 patents issued in mobile and wireless technology and leads Gemini's global design and development teams. Tso also serves as President of the Japan office and managed the launch of Gemini's China operations. He has been the driving force behind the development of Gemini's product innovations - the HyperScale® Messaging Platform and eXplo® - as well as led design and development efforts with customers across the world. Prior to Gemini, Tso was Wireless Chief Scientist at Inktomi, where he designed a congestion control system for KDDI, which later became the WAP standard. At Intel, he served as General Manager of the Intel Quickweb Technology Group, where he led the development and launch of web acceleration technology. He also served as Architect at Intel Architecture Labs, where he collaborated with Nokia on the first Nokia Communicator SmartPhone and NarrowBand Sockets, commonly known as SmartMessaging, which enabled the world's first SMS ringtone download service. Tso also held positions at Xerox Palo Alto Research, where he worked on PARCTab and Ubiquitous Computing. Tso graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a master's degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, and undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, with a minor in Economics. |
