Michael Sperling PHD Managing Director Dr. Michael Sperling is a leader in the progression of computer technology from mainframe to client/server to the Internet, and has over 30 years of experience in software development. Dr. Sperling was a co-founder of Docuity, a leading developer of electronic discovery solutions, recently acquired by Stroz Friedberg to complement their leading eDiscovery services by adding the most advanced technology for collecting, identifying, processing, searching and reviewing electronic data for critical litigation matters. Dr. Sperling is the innovator of one of the distinguishing features of Docuity s technology: Targeted Data Extraction (TDE), a patent-pending technology that performs automated content extraction from unstructured text like contracts and correspondence a great cost and time-saving automation tool for eDiscovery projects. Dr. Sperling created additional underlying technology for a full complement of eDiscovery tools including: Project Manager, a workflow platform that is used to manage the complete process of document acquisition, extraction, and delivery; and the Intelligent Review Module, a hosted review application that employs advanced Natural Language Processing techniques to optimize document review. Dr. Sperling started his career as a lead computer consultant to Citibank where he led a team in the development of the REINS system, a multi-platform 4GL application development system with a relational database which was used to develop a large number of applications both within and outside of Citibank. He also designed one of the first multi-user microcomputer operating systems on Intel 8080 architecture and created a 4GL application development system for the Intel 8080 architecture. Dr. Sperling s association with Executech, Inc. began when he met Theodore M. Davis while working on a document management system project for Citibank. Dr. Sperling joined Executech as Vice President in charge of software development and engineering. In this role, he led the development program for the E-TECH Document and Knowledge Management System. His primary responsibilities during this project were the design of a client/server imaging architecture integrating a GUI front end, relational databases, network-based imaging tools and concept-based full text retrieval tools. Executech was acquired by the Merrill Corporation in June of 1998, where Dr. Sperling served as Vice President of Technology directing the next generation of E-TECH, based on Internet standards. Dr. Sperling earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the Courant Institute of New York University. Prior to this, he earned a B.S. in Mathematics at Yeshiva University where he was the winner of the Senior Math Award |
