Dr. Michael Shafer serves as Medical Director of Emergency Services at Chinese Hospital in San Francisco, California. He previously worked as Medical Director of Emergency Services at Marshal Hale Memorial Hospital in San Francisco and Assistant Medical Director of Emergency Services at Children's Hospital of San Francisco. Dr. Shafer is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a member of the San Francisco Medical Society and the California Medical Association. He was the first emergency physician member of the Board of Directors of the SFMS and is a past president of the San Francisco Emergency Physicians' Association. Dr. Shafer is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. He completed his undergraduate training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he received an A.B. in Biology and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree from the Brown University Program in Medicine and was a member of its first graduating class. Dr. Shafer completed an Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. He also completed a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Disease at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. |
