Michael Pitkewicz joined CulinArt in 1988, bringing with him more than thirteen years experience in the foodservice industry. As vice president of human resources, he oversees the development, retention and career paths of employees at both the hourly associate and management level. His commitment to a quality work environment has translated into employee retention rates substantially higher than industry averages. Pitkewicz manages a five-person department that administers to the daily, short-term and long-term needs of CulinArt’s 1,000-plus associates, including on-going training, education, employee benefits, and much more. Some of CulinArt’s accomplishments under Pitkewicz’ administration include the introduction of company sponsored employee medical benefits, a company-matched 401K program and ServSafe certification classes, which are available to all employees. Pitkewicz is responsible for all CulinArt labor union relations, contract analysis, and interpretation. Supervision of the company’s $3 million-plus vending division as well as all repair and maintenance issues also fall under his domain. Michael Pitkewicz is a graduate of Ferris State College. He is an active board member of the Society for Human Resource Managers on Long Island and serves on the advisory board for the Art Institute of NY (formerly the NY Restaurant School). He is also an active member of the Westchester Community College Advisory for Foodservice Administration, Restaurant Management Curriculum and the New York State Institute of Technology Hotel and Restaurant Administration and Culinary Arts Program. |
