Michael Pakaluk received his BA from Harvard College, M. Litt. from the University of Edinburgh, and Ph.D. in philosophy from Harvard University, where he studied ethics and political philosophy under John Rawls, who also supervised his dissertation. He is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Clark University and has held visiting positions at Brown University, St. Andrews University, and Cambridge University. The author of Other Selves: Philosophers on Friendship (Hackett, 1991), Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics VIII and IX: Translation with Commentary (Oxford, 1998), and Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics: An Introduction (Cambridge, 2005), he has also published widely in scholarly and popular journals. Dr. Pakaluk is recognized as one of the world's leading experts in classical ethics. He has served as Trustee of the Worcester Public Library; Founder and Trustee of the Abby Kelley Foster Regional Charter School in Worcester; and Founder and Trustee of the American Public Philosophy Institute. He is currently Director of the Boston Area Colloquium in Ancient Philosophy. |
