Michael has a B.Sc. (hon) from Simon Fraser University in Physical Geography, an M.Sc. from Royal Roads University in Environment and Management and is mid-way the completion of a Ph.D. in mineral economics and management from the University of British Columbia. He also is accredited as a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) from the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice. Michael was appointed President and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia in November 2004 where he is responsible for representing the interests of the provinces $5 billion mining and minerals industry. Michael is an accomplished project manager and team leader responsible for the successful development and implementation of a number of high value multi disciplinary projects in the mining and minerals sector. He has many years of progressive public and private sector senior leadership experience within the national and international mining and minerals industry. Michael has extensive experience and track record in building and facilitating positive relationships between diverse stakeholders including government, community, First Nations/Indigenous Peoples, non-governmental organizations and industry. He has in-depth knowledge of political, regulatory and public policy issues as they relate to the mining and minerals industry nationally and internationally. |
