Dr. Johnson is Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and Director of UIC’s College of Pharmacy Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. He is the recipient of the largest grant ever received by UIC, when the National Institutes of Health recently awarded a $15.7 million grant for a program to develop drugs against anthrax. His research program includes a multidisciplinary approach to structure-based design of therapeutic agents, utilizing a variety of technologies, and targeting several different systems of biological importance. |
