Mr. James joined NorthMarq Capital in September 2003 when NorthMarq acquired the mortgage banking division of Legg Mason Real Estate Services (LMRES) where he was employed since 1997. Mr. James is currently a Vice President in NorthMarq’s Rochester regional office. His responsibilities include debt and equity placement for insurance companies, pension funds and other investors represented by NorthMarq, as well as the development of new clients and financing opportunities in Upstate New York. Mr. James has arranged financing for shopping centers, apartments, assisted lining developments, office buildings and industrial properties. He has over 17 years of experience in real estate mortgage and investment banking. Prior to joining LMRES, he served as Vice President of Sibley Mortgage Corporation for 14 years. Mr. James began his commercial real estate career in 1974 with GAR Associates, Inc., the largest appraisal firm in Buffalo, New York. During his nine years at GAR, he appraised a variety of commercial and multifamily properties and managed the Rochester, New York branch office for the company. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in Economics and did graduate work at the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration. He holds a New York State Associate Broker’s license and is a member of the National Association of Office and Industrial Parks (NAIOP). |
