A successful entrepreneur, Gorton is the co-founder of TelaDoc Medical Services, an innovative healthcare company that is solving the problems of access to quality care and rising costs for minor medical issues. Gorton has built a national network of advocates and supporters of the TelaDoc model that include the Surgeon General of the United States, former US Secretary of Health and Human Services, and representatives from virtually every major healthcare think tank. Under Gorton’s direction, TelaDoc has experienced phenomenal growth and expects to add its millionth member in 2007.
In 1994, Gorton founded Internet Global (iGlobal), the first company in the world to deliver commercial DSL (1996). iGlobal was the beta site and world roll-out partner for Ericsson’s patented VOIP (Phone Doubler) product (1998) and constructed a national VOIP network for long distance service. Under his leadership, the company grew from concept stage to recording $800+K in monthly recurring revenue. In March 2000, Gorton negotiated the sale of the company for $122M.
In 2000, Gorton founded the Texas Acceleration Group, an organization of successful entrepreneurs with a goal to accelerate the growth of early stage companies through mentoring and fund raising. Gorton served as interim CEO for the educational technology company, Whoola; as a mentor for Texas incubator, STARTech; and as a board member for several technology companies. Gorton spent the first twelve years of his career as a manager/engineer for Texas Utilities. Gorton holds degrees in Physics, Engineering, and Law and has served as adjunct professor at Richland College, and LeTourneau University. |
