is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the City of Hope National Medical Center. Previously, from September 2001 until April 2003, Dr. Friedman held the position of Senior Vice President of Research and Development, Medical and Public Policy, for Pharmacia Corporation and, from July 1999 until September 2001, was a senior vice president of Searle, a subsidiary of Monsanto Company. From 1995 to 1999, Dr. Friedman served as Deputy Commissioner for Operations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and in 1997-1998 was the acting commissioner of the agency. Dr. Friedman holds a bachelor of arts degree, magna cum laude, from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and a doctorate in medicine from the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School. |
