Mike Fatig joined EMS Technologies Defense and Space Systems Division in April 2005 as Vice President of Business Development, where he leads the organization's growth efforts in U.S. military defense electronics and space-electronics markets. Fatig's 27-year career in the defense and space market has spanned technical, program management, sales, and business leadership areas.
Prior to joining EMS, Fatig worked for Honeywell, a diversified technology and manufacturing leader of aerospace products and services. He began in the Honeywell technical ranks in 1978, serving in various positions in satellite ground system operations and control. He progressed to lead Observatory Operations Engineer and launched several satellites, leading the launch and flight operations effort.
In 1986, he moved into program management, ultimately leading a team of 130 flight engineers, providing 24/7 operations of 13 NASA science satellites with a combined value of over $2 billion. Fatig later served as Director of Space Services at Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. (HTSI) in Columbia, Maryland. In that position, he drove HTSI's space service strategies, growth initiatives, technical competencies, and programs for a 400-person organization.
In 2000, Fatig became Director of Sales for Honeywell's space digital electronics, guidance and navigation, and pointing and momentum-control systems within Defense and Space Electronic Systems. During his four-year tenure there, the business booked over $930 million in orders and expanded into new market segments.
Fatig has a Bachelor of Science in Technology Management and a Master of Science in International Business from the University of Maryland.
He is a member of the American Astronautical Society and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He also has served as President of the Maryland Association for Partners in Education. He is the founder and the Honorary Executive Director of the Cooperative Satellite Learning Project, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Space Research Institute. Fatig has received the NASA Public Service Medal and five NASA Group Achievement Awards and a Governor's Citation for support to education. Fatig also served as a chapter author of the Boden-Larson book, Cost-Effective Space Mission Operations, and has authored more than 15 professional papers. |
