Michael has been a leading force in the development of advanced technologies within the digital media sector for more than 10 years, specializing in the intersection where the entertainment industry meets advanced consumer technology.
In 1999, he co-founded and was appointed chief executive officer of Musicbank Inc. Musicbank was the first software company to successfully bridge the chasm between Silicon Valley and the music industry by developing an early, secure on-demand media distribution platform and licensing framework for subscription based music on the Internet. In 2000, Musicbank became the first technology company to successfully negotiate full-catalog licenses with all five of the major music recording companies in the U.S. for use in an online application.
Prior to Musicbank, Michael served as chief operating officer of Sonique, one of the first Internet music software applications, which attracted a following of four-million users before being acquired by Lycos in 1999. Sonique was among the initial software applications that enabled consumers to listen to and manage MP3 files on their computers.
Additionally, he was a co-founder and senior executive at Addwater Inc., a San Francisco-based pioneering e-business consulting firm founded in 1995 to provide technology and strategy services to leading brands worldwide.
Michael is a Texas native who neither owns cattle nor oil wells, but he remembers the Alamo. He received his undergraduate degree from University of California, Davis, enjoys surfing, and has the best view of San Francisco in the office. |
