Michael is the Principal of Box of Crayons and is a certified coach and corporate consultant. He works with his clients to help them get unstuck and bring focus, creativity, wisdom and action to their strategic goals. He works in four broad areas:

Michael is the author of Get Unstuck & Get Going on the stuff that matters, a coaching tool that has been enthusiastically taken up by coaches, trainers and organizations across the globe. Anita Roddick, Founder of the Body Shop called it a powerful call to get going on the work that matters, while Peter Block, author of Flawless Consulting, said it shows the impact of great design and how what is profound does not have to be obscure.
Michael has held senior positions in the agency, consulting and corporate worlds. He has worked in the UK, the USA and in Canada and across a wide range of sectors with blue-chip firms: professional service firms (McKinsey & Co, PricewaterhouseCoopers), hi-tech (Microsoft; Tektronix), financial (Royal Bank of Canada, Foresters), consumer goods (Guinness, Nestle, Heinz) and pharmaceutical (AstraZeneca, GSK, Eli Lilly, Merck Frosst, Novartis, Biogen).
He is a well-known and popular keynote speaker and workshop leader. He has designed and delivered courses on creativity and innovation, time management, managing change and communication, as well as having lectured at the University of Toronto and to MBA students at Cranfield School of Management. He writes a regular coaching column for the charity About Face, and has had other articles published on such topics such as branding, "living the brand", change management and qualitative research. He writes a free monthly newsletter, Outside the Lines, that is read in countries around the world.
He is active in his community and is on the Board of On the Move, an organization that works with adults with developmental disabilities. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, where he took an M.Phil. He has a BA and an LLB with highest honors from The Australian National University. He is a certified coach through the Coach Training Institute. |
