Michael Ash is a member of the Litigation Practice Group in the Milwaukee Office. He concentrates his practice on civil business litigation, arbitration and mediation of business disputes. His civil litigation experience embraces many areas, including dealership law violations, shareholder disputes, ERISA claims, contract and real estate matters, trademark and unfair competition issues, and civil RICO litigation. He has arbitrated commercial matters for the American Arbitration Association for many years and is also accredited as an arbitrator by the New York Stock Exchange and the National Association of Securities Dealers. As an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School, he has taught Dispute Resolution and Pretrial Practice to advanced law students. A former assistant and deputy (chief assistant) district attorney for Milwaukee County, Michael also spent a year with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He consulted with the Department's Law Enforcement Assistance Administration to study methods of improving criminal courts, law enforcement and prosecution. Several pivotal articles published by Michael on the rights of witnesses are widely credited with turning attention to the needs of crime victims. Michael is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and a Master in the American Inns of Court. He also is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. Michael received his bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Marquette University and was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship to study political science at Harvard University. He obtained his master's degree in government and earned his law degree at Harvard Law School while serving as a teaching fellow in political science. Following graduation, Michael served as a law clerk to the Honorable John W. Reynolds of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
