Michael W. Ferro, Jr. is founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Click Commerce, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative extranet solutions.
Before launching Click Commerce in 1996, Mr. Ferro founded an industrial company, which was ultimately sold to a multi-national manufacturer. At that time, he saw an opportunity to use the Internet to manage real-time, secure communications and commerce among global enterprises and their partners. He is often credited by many publications as the Father of the Extranet.
Click Commerce is a leading provider of collaborative commerce and RFID enabling technologies to the manufacturing, high tech, financial services and retail industries. The Company is also a leading provider of compliance automation solutions to healthcare and higher education institutions. Six of the top 10 research institutions in North America utilize Click Commerce compliance automation solutions. The Company’s clients are leaders in their industries including Microsoft, Wal-Mart, FedEx, Deutsche Bank, Delphi, and Mayo Clinic.
On June 15, 2006, Mr. Ferro was recognized by the Aspen Institute and named a Henry Crown Fellow. He is a Director on the Board of Trustees of The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, The Field Museum of Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago and serves on the boards of Northwestern Memorial Foundation, Big Shoulders Foundation, AfterSchool Matters, and the Illinois Math and Science Academy. Mr. Ferro is a board member of the Economics Club of Chicago and a director of The Executive’s Club of Chicago. He is also a member of the YPO and The Commercial Club of Chicago. Mr. Ferro is a graduate of the University of Illinois.
On June 22, 2006, Mr. Ferro received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the technology category of the Lake Michigan Area region. He has been awarded the CEO National Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Holocaust Memorial Foundation. Mr. Ferro has received the KPMG Illinois High Tech Award and was listed as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by Crain’s Chicago Business. |
