Dr. Michael V. Arbige Ph.D. is Senior Vice President, Technology, and a member of the executive committee for Genencor International. (www.genencor.com) Since joining Genencor International he has served in many roles including Vice President of Research, Vice President of Development, and Director of Fermentation and Process Recovery. He began his professional career at the Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Arbige then joined the Genencor Incorporated startup venture as one of its first employees. During his early tenure at Genencor, Dr. Arbige played a lead role in the development of the first series of recombinant and protein engineered protein products ever to enter the industrial marketplace. Since that time Dr. Arbige has been involved in the commercialization of hundreds of protein based products and has helped establish laboratory and production facilities around the world. Dr. Arbige has served in a number of advisory and editorial roles over the years and presently holds the position of Executive Director for the Bay Bio Organization. He is also a member of the Illinois Ethanol Research Advisory Board, and is Editor for the Industrial Reseach Institute.
Dr. Arbige received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Rhode Island in 1977 followed by his Ph.D. in 1982 in the field of Microbial Physiology and Genetics from the University of New Hampshire. |
