Mr. Villarreal joined SAMCO Capital Markets in 2004 with broad experience in the field of public finance. In addition to being registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority as a General Securities Representative (Series 7), he serves as a fifth-term member of the Texas House of Representatives. His previous professional positions have included positions with Hausrath Economics Group; J.P. Morgan Securities; and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. He graduated from Harvard with a Master's degree in Public Policy in 1996 and received a B.S. in Economics from Texas A&M University in 1993. He has received many honors for his study and work in economics and public policy. Texas Monthly magazine recognized Representative Villarreal as one of the "Ten Best Legislators" of the 79th legislative session citing his ability to work across party lines as well as his capacity to grapple with complex tax policy. Texas Municipal League named him "Legislator of the Year" for the 2005 regular legislative session. He has received a Woodrow Wilson Policy Fellowship and an American Economic Association Research Fellowship.
