Mike Richards is vice president, general counsel and secretary for DCP Midstream Partners in Denver, Col.
He has more than 19 years experience providing legal counsel to a wide variety of public and private companies in energy, high-tech, telecommunications, refining, manufacturing, retail and consumer marketing.
Richards joined DCP Midstream, LLC (formerly Duke Energy Field Services) in 2000 as assistant general counsel in Denver. He was responsible for the legal affairs associated with corporate financing, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, the board of directors, and mergers and acquisitions.
Before joining the company, he was the assistant general counsel for KN Energy from 1997 to 1999, senior counsel and risk manager for Total Petroleum from 1994 to 1997, and senior associate for Kutak Rock Law Firm from 1992 to 1994.
Richards earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from The Colorado College and a juris doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law.
He is a member of the Colorado and Denver bar associations and is admitted to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. He is also a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association and the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. For the past ten years, he has served as a soccer coach for the Douglas County Soccer Association.
A native of Tacoma, Wash., Richards was born in 1960. He and his wife, Laura, have two daughters and a son. |
