Mike Holman is a partner with Bricker & Eckler LLP and is the former chair of the firm's construction law group. Mike is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Following graduation from the Naval Academy, Mike attended Navy Flight training and served as a Naval Aviator for four years, flying primarily off of the USS Essex (CVS-9).
Following his Naval service, Mike attended and graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Law. Graduating early in December 1971, Mike joined Bricker & Eckler LLP on January 2, 1972, and has been with Bricker & Eckler LLP continuously since that date.
Areas of Practice
Construction Law, including the representation of owners, contractors and design professionals in the negotiation, mediation and arbitration or litigation of construction claims, including leaking roofing systems and other claims for defective and non-conforming work, claims delays, claims for lost productivity, and in bid disputes. Mike is Chairman of the Bricker & Eckler LLP Construction Department.
OSHA, involving the representation of Employers in the defense of all types of alleged OSHA violations. Mike has numerous reported OSHA decisions.

Represented a public owner in a construction arbitration where the Owner recovered damages for defective roofing systems;
Represented a private contractor in an arbitration where the contractor recovered damages to compete the work of a defaulting subcontractor;
Assisted a public owner in obtaining a settlement with a design professional firm;
Assisted a design professional firm in resolving disputes with an out of state owner;
Assisted a contractor in negotiating the withdrawal of three alleged willful OSHA violations;
Assisted a public owner in the procurement of design professional and construction management services, including the preparation and negotiation of the design professional’s and construction manager’s agreements.
Innovations
Developed procedures consistent with the applicable statues for procuring of the design professional and construction manager as a team.
Developed SPR Contracting, a system of contracting on public works projects with a single point of responsibility for contractor performance.
With Mark Evans, P.E., developed the Low Bidder’s Financial Responsibility Affidavit for use on construction projects.
Developed the Consent To Inspect Form designed to preserve an employer’s fourth amendment rights during an OSHA inspection.

Mike is married to Sherry Holman. They have two grown sons, Scott and Rex. Scott is an attorney in Denton, Texas. Rex is a fireman in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
