Michael Helfer is the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Citigroup and a member of the Operating and Management Committees.
Prior to joining Citigroup in 2003, Mr. Helfer was President of Strategic Investments and Chief Strategic Officer at Nationwide Insurance. He had been a Partner and Chairman of the Management Committee of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, clerked for Chief Judge David Bazelon (D.C. Cir.), and served as Counsel for the Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.
Mr. Helfer is a member of the Financial Services Roundtable and the American Law Institute, and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
A founding member of the Board of Directors of Lawyers for Children America, Mr. Helfer served as President of the Legal Aid Society in Washington, D.C. and is now a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of NY and of the Lincoln Center Theatre.
He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in Economics from Claremont Men’s College. |
