Over 10 years of business development and financial management experience, over 8 years in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry Michael P. Smith, Vice President of Business Development. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Smith served as Vice President of Business Development for QLT, Inc., a global biopharmaceutical company, where he was responsible for all business development activities as well as corporate strategy. From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Smith was with Chiron Corporation, a biotechnology company, where he held several senior positions, including Manager, Corporate Finance and Business Development and Director Corporate Development, and was responsible for developing and implementing M&A and strategic partnership transactions and strategies. Prior to joining Chiron Corporation, Mr. Smith was the Finance/Business Development Manager for Ascent Logic Corporation, a private systems engineering software company. Mr. Smith holds a B.S. from the University of Virginia, as well as an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
