Michael P. Pompeo is a partner with the firm and a member of the firm's Corporate Restructuring Practice Group. His practice is dedicated primarily to debtor/creditor rights, restructuring and liquidation of business organizations and bankruptcy litigation matters. Mike has represented trustees, debtors, creditors committees, leasing companies, insurers and creditors in complex Chapter 11 cases. Mike represented the Chapter 11 trustee in the Robert E. Brennan securities fraud case and the debtors in the MIIX Group Inc. and New Jersey Sate Underwriters, Inc. bankruptcy proceedings. He is experienced in negotiating plans and disclosure statements, asset purchase agreements and related financing transactions. He has been involved in mass tort Chapter 11 cases representing insurers in connection with the Catholic Church Chapter 11 cases including the Diocese of Tucson, the Archdiocese of Portland, the Diocese of Spokane and the Diocese of Davenport, and representing one of several finance companies in litigation involving hundreds of customers as part of an alleged telecommunication Ponzi scheme involving NorVergence, Inc. Mike was identified by New Jersey Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2006.
In General. Mike is a graduate of Fairfield University, where he received a bachelor's degree in finance in 1990. In 1992, he earned an M.B.A. in finance from Seton Hall University, and graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1996. Following law school, Mike served as a law clerk to the Honorable James J. Petrella, Presiding Judge of the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey. Earlier in his career, he worked as a bond trader in New York City.
Mike is admitted to practice in the states of New York and New Jersey. He is a member of the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the District of New Jersey, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. |
