Michael P. Loo was named Kamehameha Schools Vice President for Finance and Administration in March 2003. He previously served as Controller since 2001.
A certified public accountant, Loo has more than 15 years experience in operations, finance, treasury, risk management, human resources, facilities, information technology and project management. From 1993-2001, he served as vice president, controller and treasurer at Hawaiian Airlines, Inc., where he was instrumental in establishing growth, profitability and leadership while navigating through challenging market and economic climates and dealing with diverse markets. Prior to that, he was a senior manager for audit and insurance with KPMG, LLP.
Loo graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oregon, earning a bachelor of science degree in accounting with an emphasis in computer science.
He currently serves on the board of directors for Ho‘okako‘o Corporation a non-profit corporation established to support conversion charter schools and the Better Business Bureau, Hawai‘i Chapter. He is a member of the Hawai‘i Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute, the Hawai‘i Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. |
