With over 30 years of professional experience Mike has a broad range of expertise in financial management that spans the sectors of education government and healthcare.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Mike was a Senior Vice President in charge of the Higher Education practice at MAXIMUS. A substantial amount of Mike's work has been with managerial and cost accounting for federally sponsored programs at both colleges and universities under OMB Circular A-21 and related regulations for governments and healthcare institutions.
Mike has directed engagements dealing with the development and negotiation of Facilities and Administrative (F&A) rates the automation of F&A rate calculations the design of effort reporting systems the implementation of equipment inventory systems special studies of operations and maintenance costs the development of special cost center rates and the resolution of federal audit findings.
Throughout his career Mike has developed tools that are used in the administration of research. He managed the development of the Comprehensive Rate Information System (CRIS). This system holds the reputation of being the most popular F&A rate software package available and has been used by over one hundred institutions to calculate their rates.
Mike has been responsible for the development of systems and methodologies. He had management responsibility for the development of the MAXIMUS Effort Reporting System and WebSpace System. Mike has been responsible for creating designs for Direct Charge Equivalent (DCE) and Joint-Use Space methodologies both of which have developed into industry standards.
He has established training workshops for Cost Accounting Standards and F&A training for University managers and staff.
