Mike Jackson is SUPERVALU president and chief operating officer. He is responsible for implementing the company’s strategic vision, as well as for overseeing Save-A-Lot, Supply Chain Services including retail and wholesale supply chain networks and third-party logistics (TLC), Six Sigma and the Enterprise Office. Prior to joining SUPERVALU, Jackson was a store manager for Red Owl Foods. He began his SUPERVALU career in 1979 as a retail counselor at the company’s Green Bay division, and during his 27-year tenure, Jackson has held a number of positions throughout the company in both supply chain services and retail operations. Jackson served as senior vice president of operations for Retail Food Companies from 1999 to 2001, and was subsequently named executive vice president and president of Distribution Food Companies in 2001. Within the industry, Jackson serves on the Food Marketing Institute’s (FMI) wholesale advisory board, is vice chair of the board for the National Grocers Association (NGA), and sits on the IGA USA board of directors. In addition, Jackson is on the advisory board for the Carlson School of Management’s Institute for Research in Marketing and is a trustee of the board for Food for All, a domestic and international anti-hunger organization. In the community, Jackson also is active in a variety of roles, including the YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis board of directors. Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in management and accounting from the University of Wisconsin. He has also completed the Wharton School executive management program at the University of Pennsylvania. |
