Michael K. Milani is a Managing Director in Ocean Tomo's Expert Services practice. Mr. Milani is located in the firm’s Chicago office and has over 10 years of experience related to the valuation of intellectual property and the determination of economic damages in commercial litigation. While the specific issues have varied from case to case, most of Mr. Milani’s engagements have included an evaluation and analysis of financial, market, and other business data in order to determine the quantum of damages associated with claims of lost profits, reasonable royalties, price erosion, unjust enrichment, or diminished business value. Mr. Milani and his teams have provided support to counsel in all phases of the litigation process, from discovery through trial. In addition to his work involving litigation related matters, Mr. Milani has also provided analytical and corporate finance support to clients engaged in licensing negotiations and business transactions. In this capacity, he has performed valuations of entire businesses in addition to specific intellectual assets.
Mr. Milani’s clients cover a wide variety of industries including industrial products and machinery, consumer products, building materials, consumer electronics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and construction products. He has authored several articles and spoken several times on the financial, accounting, business, legal, and strategic issues related to intellectual property. He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and an Associate Member of the American Bar Association: Intellectual Property Law Section.
In addition to Ocean Tomo, Mr. Milani has also worked at IPC Group (now CRA International) as an Associate in its intellectual property practice area. Mr. Milani has also worked as a Sr. Manager with several large multi-national consulting firms where his efforts were focused on helping companies maximize their return on assets through an improved focus on business strategy.
Mr. Milani holds an MBA from the Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. |
