Michael Gandy Biography :

Signed a three-year contract as an unrestricted free agent with the Cardinals on 4/2/07.

Played the last two seasons with the Bills and started all 16 games in each. After starting all 16 at left tackle for Buffalo in 2005, he started seven games at that spot in 2006 and another nine at left guard.

His 62 career starts have come at three different line positions: 43 at LT, 14 at LG and 5 at RG.

Spent the first four years of his career with the Bears, who drafted him in the third round of the 2001 Draft out of Notre Dame.

Has started the last 62 games in which he has appeared, moving from right guard to left tackle throughout that period.

Pro Career:

Entered the NFL as a third-round selection (68th overall) by Chicago in the 2001 NFL Draft. Played four seasons for the Bears before being released on 11/8/04 and being signed by the Bills on 3/4/05. Signed a three-year free agent contract with the Cardinals on 4/2/07.

2006: After starting the first seven games of the season at left tackle, moved to left guard for the first time with the Bills and started the final nine games of the season there vs. GB (11/5), started at left guard for first time with the Bills and helped pave the way for 120 yards rushing was part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack vs. Jax (11/26) helped lead the way for 174 rushing yards @ NYJ (12/10).

2005: As the left tackle, was one of two Bills offensive lineman (center Trey Teague) to start every game, marking the first time in his career he started all 16 games in a season; proved a pivotal cog on a line that helped running back Willis McGahee establish a career-high 1,247 rushing yards helped guide McGahee to 140 rushing yards vs. Atl. (9/25) held defensive end John Abraham to just one tackle while helping the line clear holes for the most productive rushing day of the season as team rushed for a season-high 177 yards and 13 first downs while McGahee rushed for a career high 143 yards vs. NYJ (10/16).

2004: Started the season as the Bears starting right guard and started five games at the position; vs. Det (9/12), @ GB (9/19), vs. Phi (10/3); vs. Wash (10/17), and @ TB (10/24) before being released on 11/8/04.

2003: Started career-high 14 games at left tackle for Chicago, including the first 13 of the season, while missing two games due to injury made first career opening-day start at SF (9/7) ... made 24th consecutive start at GB (12/7), but left game in fourth quarter due to shoulder injury returned to start season finale @ KC (12/28).

2002: Made his NFL debut four weeks into the season and went on to establish himself as a starter at two different positions for the Bears over the final 11 games of the season started at left guard for games six through 10 before moving to left tackle for games 11-16 inactive for the first two games before being active for the first time in his career vs. NO (9/22); active but DNP made NFL debut @ Buf (9/29) on special teams subbed for injured left guard Rex Tucker vs. GB (10/7) took over starting left guard position with first NFL start @ Det (10/20) moved to left tackle when Marc Colombo was lost for the year to injury and made first career start at that position vs. Det (11/24) after never having played the position before at any level during his career.

2001: Inactive for all 16 regular season games and one playoff contest.

College:

Concluded his Notre Dame career (1997-2000) with a string of 26 consecutive starts recipient of the Guardian-of-the-Year Award, given annually to the team’s best offensive lineman in 2000 while starting every game at RG played major role in Irish converting 33-of-35 scoring opportunities inside the red zone that season also started every game at RG as a junior, one of only three players to log over 300 minutes of playing time for an offense that averaged 419.7 yards per game saw first collegiate game action as a sophomore, playing in every game and starting the final three contests at RG did not see any game action as a redshirt freshman.

Personal:

Full name Michael Joseph Gandy two-time All-City, All-District and All-Area pick at Garland (TX) H.S., earning four letters at TE and DE selected for the Texas-Oklahoma Oil Bowl and Texas-California Shrine Classic All-Star games cousin, Tony Blevins, was a defensive back at the University of Kansas and with the Indianapolis Colts graduated in May, 2000, with bachelor’s degrees in both sociology and computer applications.
