Dr. Michael J. Hartnett has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of RBC Bearings Incorporated (RBC Bearings) since April 1992 and Chairman of the Board of Directors since June 1993. Prior to that Dr. Hartnett served as Vice President and General Manager of RBC's Industrial Tectonics Bearings Corporation (ITB) located in California. Before joining RBC Bearings Dr. Hartnett spent 18 years at The Torrington Company where he held the positions of Vice President and General Manager of the Aerospace Business Unit and Vice President of the Research and Development Division.
Dr. Hartnett holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Haven an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Hartnett has also developed numerous patents authored more than two dozen technical papers served as an associate editor of the A.S.M.E. Journal of Tribology and is well known for his contributions to the field of tribology (the science of lubrication friction and wear in concentrated contacts). Dr. Hartnett currently serves as a Director of Aftermarket Technology Company a publicly held company in the business of remanufacturing aftermarket components for automobiles and is Chairman of the Advisory Board of the School of Engineering at the University of Connecticut. |
