Professional Experience
Mr. Hartley´s practice focuses on complex business litigation. Over the past decade Mr. Hartley has specialized in defending large-scale environmental, antitrust and consumer matters, particularly toxic torts, consumer class actions, and unfair business practices litigation brought under California´s Unfair Competition Law.
Mr. Hartley is experienced in all aspects of litigation in both federal and state courts, including discovery, law and motion practice, trial, and civil writ and appeal practice. He also has substantial experience in constitutional issues and has participated in several major cases before the U.S. Supreme Court in the areas of punitive damages and the admissibility of expert testimony. Representative clients include major aerospace, telecom, banking and lending concerns.
Mr. Hartley graduated cum laude from Boston College Law School in 1993 (Order of the Coif, Boston College Law Review), and clerked for the Hon. Paul J. Barbadoro, United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.
