Michael J. Wilson is President of State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) Ventures Group, based in Tokyo and Executive Vice President of State Street Corporation. He is also a member of State Street Corporation's Asia Pacific Executive Board. Previously, Mr. Wilson was President and CEO of State Street, Japan, and prior to that worked in London for four years where he lead State Street's sales and marketing teams across the U.K., Europe, the Middle East and South Africa. Mr. Wilson joined State Street Corporation in 1996 in Boston as Head of Offshore Funds.
Mr. Wilson has specialised in all aspects of the investment management business in the U.S. and various international markets. He has advised on the creation and support of offshore and in-country funds, in both established and emerging markets, and has extensive experience in the sales and marketing of mutual funds and institutional pension products globally.
Prior to joining State Street, Mr. Wilson was a managing consultant for AT Kearney's investment management practice. Before joining AT Kearney, he was vice president of international development at Putnam Investments; also serving as vice president and Counsel for the same firm.
Mr. Wilson has taught at the graduate level and holds a Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School, an M.B.A. from The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration, Dartmouth College, and a B.A. from Boston College.
