Mr. Simpson serves as President & Chief Operating Officer for SBI. As COO, he is responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day operations, including sales, marketing, product development, manufacturing, & accounting. He joined the company in October, 2004.Before joining SBI, Mr. Simpson was President of several successful start-up ventures, including: Macropore Biosurgery, a San Diego-based company focused on resorbable polymer technology for use in craniofacial, orthopaedic, & spine applications; & Synthes Maxillofacial, a business unit of Synthes USA focused on metallic implant technology for craniomaxillofacial surgeons. In both instances, Mr. Simpson grew these companies from less than 5 employees to more than 80 employees with exceptional sales growth.In addition to these start-ups, Mr. Simpson held senior executive positions at Synthes USA in their Orthopaedic Trauma Division & at Stryker Corp. At Stryker, he also was a member of their Management team during their initial public offering (IPO). In both cases, the annual revenues of his companies were less than $20 million when Mr. Simpson joined them.Mr. Simpson has more than 30 years of experience in orthopaedics with demonstrated success in the development, planning, & execution of niche business strategies. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, holds a BA from St. Bonaventure University, & has taken courses at the Wharton, Harvard & University of Michigan Business Schools. |
