Michael J. McManus is a partner in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group, and regional partner in charge of the Washington, DC office. He has more than 25 years of legal experience concentrating in complex litigation, including high profile False Claims Act (Qui Tam and whistleblower) cases and class action suits.
Areas of Concentration. Michael has significant experience in matters that focus on construction, products liability, insurance law, toxic torts and representation of businesses/employers in commercial litigation (tort and contract matters, fair housing, ADA issues, civil rights and employment matters). In addition, Michael's practice includes representation of individuals and national and local businesses in litigation matters ranging from service as lead trial counsel through appellate proceedings.
Education. Michael received his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1975 and his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1972.
Professional Memberships and Activities. Michael's bar admissions include the bar of the Superior Court and the bar of the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia, the bar of the Supreme Court of Virginia (all courts), the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, U.S. District Court, District of Maryland, U.S. District Court, District of Columbia, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth and Fifth Circuits, U.S. Court of Appeals, D.C. Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. His professional associations include the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia state bar, the Virginia Bar Association, the Fairfax County Bar Association, and the District of Columbia bar.
Community Activities. Michael is active in several community organizations. He serves as mediator for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He is also a member of the Notre Dame Club of Washington, D.C., and of the Charlotte E. Ray American Inn of Court. |
