Mike Kelley is a member of Jones Waldo’s Real Estate and Litigation departments. He focuses his practice on construction law, in both its transactional and litigation aspects. He has substantial experience advising owners and in negotiating and preparing construction contracts and related documents in connection with large commercial, governmental and residential projects located in Utah and in numerous other states. Mike’s experience also includes representing commercial and governmental owners in construction-related litigation, both locally and on a national level. His construction clients include large retailers, large developers, manufacturers, governmental entities and health care providers. While Mike’s primary emphasis is in construction law, he spends a fair amount of his time advising clients and litigating cases other areas of commercial law and litigation, including antitrust, product distribution, trademark and copyright law. His experience in these areas includes representing large retailers, manufacturers, construction companies, media companies, insurance companies, agricultural cooperatives and health care providers. In addition, Mike is Jones Waldo’s resident specialist in connection with pre-merger notification and reporting requirements for large mergers and acquisitions under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, and he has been responsible for our clients’ Hart-Scott-Rodino compliance in connection with numerous large transactions.
Mike was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and received his B.A. from Weber State College, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He received his J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1988, where he was a member and comment editor of the Utah Law Review and a William H. Leary Scholar. He is a member of the Utah State Bar and is licensed to practice before all Utah state and federal courts and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. |
