Michael J. Hennig is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office and has focused his career on civil litigation, specifically the defense of medical malpractice actions, construction law, construction defect and products liability actions. Mr. Hennig has also served as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Hennig has extensive experience in medical malpractice litigation and has defended medical malpractice cases at trial in cases involving a variety of medical specialties including surgery, infectious disease, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric neurology, orthopedics, radiology, cardiology and family practice. Mr. Hennig also has extensive experience defending medical practitioners and health care organizations in other specialties in cases that were resolved prior to trial. In addition, Mr. Hennig has trial experience in products liability cases. He has tried cases involving cancer, and neurological, psychological, and respiratory diseases and disorders allegedly caused by exposure to welding rod compounds, including asbestos, chromium, and manganese. In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Hennig has a wealth of experience in pre-trial litigation, including analyzing cases and developing a defense strategy. He has also developed an interest in alternative dispute resolution and is an arbitrator for the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Mandatory Arbitration Program. Mr. Hennig has been active in the legal community and has authored an article Hospital Risk Managers and the Structural Work Act," The Occurrence, in 1993. In addition, he served as a co-chairman to the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel’s Rookie Seminar. He has lectured for the CBA, the IDC, IICLE, and at the 1997 Annual Conference of the Environmental Claims Managers’ Association in Seattle, Washington. While in law school, Mr. Hennig was a member of the John Marshall Law Review and a recipient of the Order of John Marshall and graduated with high distinction.
