Michael J. Gasser is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Greif Bros. Corporation, a position he has held since June 1994.
Greif is the world leader in industrial packaging products, which includes steel, plastic and fibre containers; intermediate bulk containers; and container closure systems. In addition, the company produces containerboard, corrugated containers and specialty products, and multiwall bags and also owns and manages timberland in the U.S. and Canada.
Mr. Gasser joined Greif Bros. in August 1979 as internal auditor at the company's headquarters in Delaware, Ohio. Mr. Gasser progressed steadily in his career with Greif, becoming controller in 1981, a member of the finance committee in 1987, vice president of finance in 1988, a member of the board of directors in 1991, vice chairman and chief operating officer in 1994, and later chairman in 1994.
He graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He obtained his certified public accountant certificate in 1976. |
