J. Michael Fulton is president and chief executive officer of Comerica Bank's Western Market. He also serves as a member of Comerica's Management Policy Committee and Management Council.
His banking career of over 34 years started with Comerica in Michigan, where he advanced through various commercial lending and strategic planning positions. In 1989 he was in charge of mergers and acquisitions for Comerica and oversaw its entry into California through the acquisition of San Jose-based Plaza Bank of Commerce. His relocation and subsequent responsibilities include overseeing the Western Market's focus on small business, middle market, entertainment, specialty deposits, private lending, and retail banking as well as a national focus on high technology, and Small Business Administration (SBA) lending.
Fulton received his bachelor of science degree from Central Michigan University and his master of business administration from the University of Michigan. He serves on the Board of Directors of the San Jose Silicon Valley Ballet, Montalvo and on the advisory boards of All Stars Helping Kids, and Foothill DeAnza Community College. In addition, he is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum.
