Michael Freno’s experience spans the full breadth of intellectual property areas, including patent, trademark, and copyright matters. His patent litigation experience includes patents related to pharmaceuticals, including ANDAs, chemical and polymer science, medical devices, and mechanical arts. Mr. Freno has also been involved in the litigation of various trademark matters ranging from disputes over product and trade names, trade dress, false advertising, and unfair competition. In the area of copyright, his experience includes infringement disputes in industries ranging from entertainment, publishing, and home electronics. Apart from litigation, Mr. Freno's practice includes opinion work in patent matters regarding infringement, validity and enforceability in various technologies. He is also involved in licensing intellectual property rights.
Mr. Freno has co-authored numerous articles on trademark and copyright related issues ranging from trademark protection for colors and holograms, to copyright protection for databases.
Prior to studying law, Mr. Freno worked in the pharmaceutical industry as an analytical chemist where he developed methods related to FDA approval for determining the stability of novel drug formulations. |
