Mike Dubes was appointed president of Conseco Insurance Group in June 2005. He had been affiliated with Conseco in a consulting capacity since 2004.
Dubes served 35 years with ReliaStar Financial Corp. and its predecessor insurance companies. He began his career in 1967 as an agent for Northwestern National Life Insurance Company, focusing on tax-sheltered annuity products for the education market. Based on his sales success and leadership skills, Dubes earned numerous promotions to sales and management positions of increasing responsibility. In 1985, he was named president and CEO of Northwestern National Life, and was named general manager and senior vice president of the individual insurance operation in 1987.
Dubes went on to serve from 1994-2002 as president and chief executive officer of Northern Life, another ReliaStar insurance company. In this position, his extensive sales experience enabled him to increase distribution and product sales and deliver stable earnings. After ING acquired ReliaStar, Dubes served as executive vice president for the ING life companies and CEO of Washington Square Securities. Upon his retirement in 2002, he started his own consulting practice and was affiliated with the KNW Group.
Dubes holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University, a Master of Science degree in financial services from American College and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter, a Chartered Financial Consultant and a LIMRA Leadership Institute Fellow.
Dubes has served on the board of LIMRA International and the Board of Governors of the Iowa State University Foundation. He is a member of Rotary International and has won numerous industry sales and leadership awards. |
