Mr. Michael J. Drerup is a Managing Engineer in Exponent’s Civil Engineering practice. He has 10 years of building technology experience with an emphasis on the performance and durability of masonry and concrete structures exposed to aggressive service environments. He has also investigated performance deficiencies with a variety of building envelope systems and specializes in the diagnosis and remediation of water intrusion. He has planned and executed numerous building performance studies that have included both in-situ and laboratory test programs. Mr. Drerup has investigated damage claims resulting from a variety of natural and man-made causes including weather events explosions fire impact events construction activities and alleged defective construction.
Mr. Drerup has a B.S.C.E. from the University of Maryland and is a registered professional engineer in Maryland New York Alabama and Mississippi. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers' Technical Council on Forensic Engineering and serves as Chair of the Council's Committee on the Dissemination of Failure Information. He has published and presented on topics including concrete and masonry deterioration building envelope performance and non-destructive testing. |
