Michael J. Burns is Chairman of the Board Chief Executive Officer and President of the Dana Corporation one of the world’s leading suppliers to the automotive commercial vehicle and off-highway vehicle markets.
A native of Monticello Ind. Mike came to Dana in 2004 from General Motors Corp. where he last served as president of General Motors Europe a $25 billion division based in Zürich Switzerland. His 34-year General Motors career included early assignments in operations engineering administration and sales. He later joined the GM Treasurer’s Office in New York N.Y. eventually serving as director of Overseas Financial Analysis. Mike also served in a wide variety of roles with Delphi Electronics including an assignment in Singapore as operations manager and a number of additional positions with increasing responsibility. Mike was later named GM vice president for Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems and was subsequently promoted to GM vice president and general manager of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems. In 1998 Mike was named president of GM Europe where he led the coordination of Opel/Vauxhall Saab GM Daewoo Europe and GM’s North American vehicle activities in Europe.
Mike earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in 1975 and a master's degree in Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1979.
Mike is a member of the Board of Trustees of Kettering University. He is also a member of the Business Council Business Roundtable National Association of Manufacturers and Society of Automotive Engineers.
