Mike Brown is area chairman of Central and Northeast Florida banking for National City Corporation with geographic responsibilities for East Central Florida.
He served for 30 years as president and chief executive officer of Harbor Florida Bancshares, the holding company for Harbor Federal Savings Bank, which merged with National City in December, 2006. Under his leadership, Harbor Federal grew in assets to $3.22 billion, doubling its size in just the last five years. By 2006, Harbor Federal’s scope of operations included two subsidiaries and 42 branch offices in East Central Florida.
Mr. Brown began his banking career in 1964 with Prudential Savings & Loan in Clayton, Mo., ultimately becoming chief financial officer. In 1972, he moved to University Federal Savings & Loan in Coral Gables, FL to be senior vice president and CFO. Mr. Brown joined Harbor Federal as senior vice president of Operations, assuming the role of president and chief executive officer in July 1976.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., Mr. Brown has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from St. Louis University.
